Loving Life – Loving Desserts

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

My good friend, Johanna, has written an amazing eBook of vegan desserts. All of these recipes are made without regular cane sugar. Instead, they are sweetened with fruit sugar from fresh, dried, and frozen fruit and berries. Agave syrup or maple syrup is also used. Agave syrup is a yummy low GI sweetener that works really well in these recipes.

All but 5 of the recipes can be made 100% raw, but if you don’t have 100% raw resources such as genuinely raw cocoa powder, you can still make them and they will taste incredible!

Chemical Burn, Hives, Raw Diet

Friday, July 24th, 2009

On Sunday, I accidentally and without realizing it, got swimming pool acid on my hands.  I did not immediately wash them, as I did not know it happened.  About 30 minutes later they were white and chalky.  They did not begin to burn until hours later.  I woke up Monday morning with hives all over my face, arms, hands and a few other spots that I must have touched while the acid was on my hands.

Now on Friday, I am in my fifth day of hives.  This has been quite miserable and trying.  But, yesterday I did what I knew was the best thing, moved to an all raw vegan diet.  Eating raw foods helps get waste matter out of the body and, more specifically, out of the cells.  In this way, I can refuse to take steroid treatments – the common remedy for such a strong and lasting allergic reaction.

Soup Heavenly Soup

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Today is a rainy, cool day here in the jungle.  It makes me think that it is a good day for soup.  But, really, any day is a good day for soup.  Some people tell me that they do not like soup.  Maybe that comes from eating soup out of a can or ramen package.  If I ate those, I would not particularly like soup either. **  I like homemade soup – the kind I smell cooking and can’t wait to sample.  Or raw veggie soup that provides energy and a little kick.
